I am thinking of getting a CA real estate license. I have never worked in real estate. I live in the Silicon Valley (bay area) of California. I am looking for a cheap and fast way of getting a license. I prefer taking real classes (instead of online classes). Please tell me who in San Jose area is giving these classes for cheap and when. I have time in June and July to take classes. I want to have my independent license, so that I can decide who I work for after I get the license.
I’m looking to change careers into real estate, and have a personal interest in beginning a portfolio of investment properties. What are the best books out there dealing with real estate finance, buying foreclosures, renting properties, flipping, and understanding the general market? Also, what newspapers/magazines do you recommend?
I qualify as a real estate professional for tax purposes. I own and manage over 25 rental properties. I have not claimed that status in the past. I have recently married and my husband has retirement and investment income in excess of the maximum income amount allowed under the passive activity rules. If I make a profit from my investments, am I subject to FICA taxes on that income? Is there a downside to claiming real estate professional status?
I would like to avoid board fees in Ontario Canada. I am in a home business which is excelling and yet would still like to keep my real estate license for future use. I need a non board member to hold my real estate license who may or may not charge a fee for this real estate license park or parking my real estate licence service.
I just received the real estate broker license in California, and plan to do brokerage business. I’m not planning to setup a company or hire any agent. I’m thinking about joining Orange County Association of Realtors. Do I really need E&O insurance? What steps am I missing? Any advice will be appreciated.
I am selling some real estate and now need to stop the sale. As the seller can I stop the sale? We are in the option period right now.
Thank you for the answers – not what I wanted to hear… when I say option period, the buyer is still deciding if they want to back out or not. I extended the option period for them to think it over some more but now I want to cancel.
